Ppmimesir.or.id, Kairo—Mr. Lutfi Rauf, the Ambassador of the State of Indonesia in Cairo said that Al-Azhar is the beacon of knowledge that illuminates the entire universe with its enlightening knowledge and thought, which spreads the moderation of the true Islamic religion and its tolerant teachings in societies. The statement was said in discourse at the PPMI Egypt 2021 graduation ceremony at the Al-Azhar Conference Center (ACC) building, Cairo, Egypt. Monday, (1/11/2021).
The graduation ceremony was attended by two guests of honor, specifically the Indonesian Ambassador in Cairo, Mr. Lutfi Rauf and the Deputy of al-Azhar Egypt, Prof. Dr. Muhammad al-Dhuwainiy.
Prof. Dr. al-Dhuwaini said that the relationship between al-Azhar and Indonesia is an old and renewed one, dating back several centuries, which began with the arrival of the Indonesians more than a century and a half ago to Egypt to learn from the sciences of al-Azhar and scholars.
The al-Azhar representative also hopes that the graduation participants and alumni of al-Azhar Egypt, to be continue to deepen and enrich the treasures of religious Islam to feel less and enjoy the delicacy of science with the al-Azhar method. “Hopefully after graduating from al-Azhar you will contribute to advancing science and spreading the compassionate teachings of Islam in Indonesia,” said Prof. al-Dhuwainiy.
After that, Dr. Lutfi Rauf, Ambassador of Indonesia in Cairo, expressed his gratitude and sincere appreciation to al-Azhar and Grand Sheikh, Prof. Ahmed al-Tayeb, Sheikh al-Azhar al-Sharif, for his interest in Indonesian students and his special attention.
Indonesian Minister of religion, K.H. Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, in his speech stated that the Middle East, especially al-Azhar, is still the favorite to deepend the knowledge of Islam. “The number of student registrants to study at al-Azhar is more than 5000 people every year,” said Gus Yaqut.
